Screenshots, recognized text, and translated text are intended to be processed on your device during normal use.
Snap! Screen Translator is designed as a private mobile utility. Normal translation use is centered on local screenshot text recognition, local translation workflows, and store-managed purchase access.
The app does not require an account. Translation content is processed on your device, while Google ML Kit sends diagnostic and usage information to Google. The welcome period and active subscriptions remove ads; they do not disable ML Kit diagnostics.

Free-tier ads respect consent choices, and ad personalization is optional. Translation data is not sent to the ad SDK for targeting.
If you contact support, we receive the email address and information you choose to include so we can respond.
Depending on how you use Snap! Screen Translator, the app may process:
Where advertising is enabled, the free tier may show interstitial ads through Google Mobile Ads, with consent managed through Google User Messaging Platform. Advertising availability can differ between iPhone and Android releases. Personalized Ads is off by default. On iPhone, enabling it may request Apple tracking permission; personalization also depends on your consent choices and device settings. You can continue translating if you decline tracking. We do not send screenshot images, recognized text, translated text, source language, or target language to advertising services for targeting.
Snap 1.5.5 introduces a 21-day ad-free welcome period for new users and existing users when they first open this update. It requires no payment, starts no subscription, and causes no automatic charge. Its original end date remains the same after app restarts and updates. When it ends, you can keep translating for free with occasional ads where available, or choose a subscription. Existing paid subscriptions continue on their store-managed terms.
During the welcome period or an active subscription, Snap does not initialize advertising, request or show ads, or automatically request ad consent or tracking permission. Personalized Ads and Report an Ad remain hidden during ad-free access. On Android, Settings > Ad Privacy Choices remains available: when you choose it, Snap checks the available Google consent options so you can review or withdraw prior choices without enabling ads. If no Google privacy-options form is required, it opens our public privacy choices page. On iPhone, the ad controls remain hidden during ad-free access. ML Kit diagnostics are separate from advertising and may still be sent during ad-free use.
When ads are enabled, Google and any configured advertising partners may process IP addresses, device identifiers where permitted, ad impressions and interactions, and diagnostic or performance information to deliver, measure, and protect advertising. Non-personalized ads can still involve this information. See Google's advertising privacy information.
In Android versions with quick accessibility capture, Snap asks you to read a separate in-app disclosure and enable the Snap screenshot translation shortcut in Android Accessibility settings. On Android 11 and later, this service takes one screenshot only after you activate Android’s shortcut (its on-screen button or chosen volume-key shortcut) or tap Snap’s optional floating capture button, recognizes and translates the visible text locally, and shows the translated image over the app you are viewing. The screenshot may include personal information displayed in that app. Screenshot and translation content stays on your device, including the app's local result cache; Snap does not send it to advertising services or its own servers. The service ignores accessibility events and does not retrieve app UI controls, operate other apps, or continuously capture your screen. You can turn off the optional floating button in Snap, or turn off the Snap screenshot translation shortcut in Android Accessibility settings to revoke screenshot access at any time. Earlier supported Android versions use Android's screen-sharing consent instead. Apps that protect their content may prevent capture.
Snap is designed around on-device screenshot translation. Screenshots, recognized text, and translated text are intended to remain on your device during normal use unless you choose to share output using system sharing tools or include information in a support email.
Google ML Kit processes translation input and output on your device; it does not send that content to Google servers. ML Kit separately sends diagnostic and usage data to Google, including per-installation identifiers, device and app details, performance measurements, errors, API configuration, model events, and configured source and destination languages. On Android, the SDK may also report feature input and output sizes. These metrics are not the screenshot images or the text being translated.
ML Kit can contact Google for model downloads, updates, and configuration information, using supporting Firebase services for installation and configuration diagnostics. Translation can work offline once its language models are downloaded; this does not mean the app makes no network requests when connected. Ad consent, Apple tracking permission, the welcome period, and subscriptions do not turn off this separate ML Kit processing. Snap does not currently provide a separate switch for ML Kit diagnostics. See Google's ML Kit privacy information and its iOS and Android data disclosures.
The app may store preferences, subscription access state, welcome-period dates, shortcut setup state, offline model state, and similar operational settings on your device. Offline language models are stored locally until you remove them in the app or remove the app from your device.
Screenshots passed into the translation flow are used to complete the requested translation and render its result. Android quick-result screenshots may remain in the app's local cache until Android or the app clears that cache, or you clear app data or uninstall the app. This cache is not uploaded by Snap. Images you deliberately save or share follow your chosen destination's retention controls.
Subscriptions and billing are handled by Apple through the App Store or Google through Google Play. Snap receives purchase or entitlement status needed to unlock access, but we do not receive your store password or payment card details. OCR and translation use device frameworks including Apple Vision and Google ML Kit. Google Translate powers the app's on-device translation results; learn more at translate.google.com.
If you email support, your email address and the information you include will be used to respond, troubleshoot, and keep a support history related to your request. Avoid sending screenshots or personal information unless it is necessary for your support request.
We may disclose information when necessary to comply with law, enforce rights, protect users, respond to a request you make, or work with platform providers such as Apple and Google for purchases, app distribution, model delivery, diagnostics, consent, and advertising as described in this policy.
